My daughter (who is about to turn 14) thought miley was the greatest thing. Since she saw these pictures, “Miley Cyrus is a slut” is now what she says about her. I know my daughter no longer is as big of fan as she was before these pictures came out.

I agree with Ken, her father must be pissed, but this really isn’t bad just the average teen, has anyone looked at their child’s Myspace. At least she doesn’t have tattoos, piercings all over her with a beer can in her hand.

She’s just being an average teen. She’s got more clothes on in this picture than some parents let their kids walk around a beach/pool wearing. Was it wrong to post them on her myspace page? Maybe-but have you people seen some of the pictures posted on myspace by teens her age-this is nothing compared to those. Role model or not-she’s still just a teen trying to be a teen. Get over it!

Seriously who cares. You know, reading some of these comments, it makes me wonder if they are left by parents. I always thought that parents would teach their kids not to be so judgemental based on single handed occasions or be so judgemental in general. According to Emily, she says that her daughter now feels that Miley is a slut. Define slut? I always thought that to be a slut you would be someone who sleeps around with multiple guys in short periods of time, or whatever. Nowadays, kids as young as 14 define “slut” as being a girl who just wants to take attractive or sexy pictures of themselves. If that is what determines a girl as a slut, then I guess we are living in a society where almost all girls are “sluts”.

Ok, first radio comment ever but… this all goes back to the conversation you all had a few weeks back about why teen girls allow themselves to be treated like dirt by poser-guys. Thanks to reality tv, Mtv, Youtube and Myspace… these kids all think everything they do is being videotaped or shot to share with the world. They are completely uninhibited in front of the camera because everything is for public viewing- they’re sexy, naked, enticing and playing it up for the cameras and trying to one up the other sexy thing to ‘win’ the popularity contest with the a**hole guys their age who spend more time tanning or shopping for the perfect tight black tee at the mall than the girls do. Because in a world where we idolize stupid people who do nothing worth value and are all image (i.e. Paris Hilton and the Mtv Hills types, seriously have you watched that show? it makes my stomach turn- but I do watch) … these kids are creating an image of themselves that fits in with this reality where sexy and shock value count and substance does not. Def. it’s a generational thing, but it’s up to parents to be aware of how many self-posed underwear shots your daughter is posting on the internet, and then BREAK HER CAMERA AND TAKE AWAY HER COMPUTER FOR A MONTH! These pics are Miley Cyrus just being a typical teenage girl in America of the Myspace generation- the problem’s not with her… it’s our media driven society that has normalized the objectification of our daughters. Parents, pay attention!

I think what Miley did was typical teenage behavior, but on the other hand I think she is pulling in enough dough that she could keep this crap on the DL. I have a 12 year old who loves Miley and though we have a very open relationship and this crap is out there, I still don’t think it’s right!
P.S. so glad I didn’t buy the Hannah Montana guitar for Christmas…..te he he

i think she should know better enough not to do that, especially after vanessa hudgens. seriously, shes a mega-millionaire and does this? can you say little whore? 5-11 year olds look up to her and this is all she can give to them. she doesn’t deserve to get let off on this one, even though papa cyrus will defend the babyteen.

Well, you fell for it didn’t you? Sure, it’s marketing, and you’re helping them out, even I’m helping them out by commenting on your blog.
Who knows how sick and dirty her label is behind closed doors in their meetings chalked full of dirty marketing ideas….but what 15-year-old doesn’t love taking pics…and how easy it could have been for them to say, “hey Miley go take some pics of yourself…” Knowing full well what it would lead to…talk, and more talk…Come on, wasn’t the whole world talking about Britney when she shaved her head?
Who knows, she might of even had an argument with her dad: “Dad I want to do a sexy lay-out for such and such mag..” He said no, and she reblled…in the easiest way possible…did it herself and posted them on her space….
And as for people in general…You really need to lay off on the whole role model ordeal. When I was seven (7) I loved NKOTB, remember all the crap a few of them managed to get into? Well I only know now because I heard about it much later when they didn’t even matter anymore. Chances are all your 10-year-old baby girls running around your house are still teasing their Barbie doll hair, have no idea about Miley and her new romp on the internet.
Just leave a 15-year-old alone. Believe it or not, as attention grabbing her pictures might be, I think she’s trying to tell you she doesn’t want to fall into the whole role-model for your children act anymore than she already has.

I am a 15 year old, and I think that this is probably just typical behavior. Some of my friends do the same thing; but I find it to be so disgraceful and disrespectful to take pictures like that of yourself; let alone post it on the internet. But- that is just my opinion. My parents would allow me to have a myspace, but I don’t even want to make one.
I think that Miley just wanted a little more attention than just from her little 10 year old fans. She is just fallowing the typical path that teenage girls are now doing. I agree that they are bad pictures, but if she wasn’t famous, this wouldn’t even be a big deal; since these types of pictures ALL over Myspace. I don’t think Miley is such of a ’slut’.. more of a ‘Girl who is looking for a little more attention’ It would be very upsetting to see another famous girl go down the wrong path..
I can’t say that I think she is a slut, but I can say that I have lost respect for her. I never was a fan of her show or songs, but I know she is pretty popular; so I hope that she doesn’t continue this since so many small children look up to her.

Its soo sad to see her acting out this way. She could use her image in a positive way to influence teens, tweens, etc. Instead she chooses to be a negative influence on her fan base. Really, Milye. Perhaps many of your fans who see your stunt for what it is, and support other musicians with real talent and integrity. If you have to resort to such crude behavior, and can’t make it on your musical talents, then you don’t belong in the music industry! There’s a whole different audience for that nastiness, and its not America’s teens!

I would be curious to know what his “honest” opinion is since he’s in the same age group. I’ve always said, I’d hate to be a teenager in this day and age, things are far different then I remember them to be, but then again, I thought we were the “new generation” when I was a teen.

Well, I’ve been hearing about these photos on tv, radio, and your show and I thought “she’s just being a normal teen girl” and “shes not doing anything other 15yrs olds arent,” keeping in mind this was before I actually saw them. So, I just looked at them, and to go along with Amanda’s blog… SCANK! I mean, she’s frickin’ 15 yrs old, those pictures are nothing short of child pornography (ok, maybe thats a bit of a stretch), but seriously, I think those are way too risque for a girl her age to be flashing all over the web. And yes, I agree with those who say, if she weren’t famous it’d be no big deal. But she is famous and her fan base are girls in grade school. NOT COOL! She’s in her g.d underwear, and those poses are not typical “look at me, I’m so cute” poses. I’m almost 25, and I would probably never put pics up like that of myself. I guess there’s a fine line between self respect and looking to be “sexy.”…or whatever she was going for.
But, just like every other teen across the country, being sexy and thin and popular is constantly thrown in kids faces, so maybe she was trying to promote an older, sexier image of herself, however… she’s 15, she’s got plenty of time ahead of her to be sexy… well, maybe not that much time, I personally don’t think she’s that talented. Just another Britney Spears in training.

ughh miley cyrus. i’m her age and i WAS a fan. I mean this is annoying. every couple months new pictures “leak” onto the internet. yeah right how about purposely posted. don’t get me wrong her concert here was amazing, her show is hysterical, and her music is okay. But i can’t stand when people do stupid things to get attention. Does she not understand that little girls everywhere look up to her? And no this isn’t typical teenager stuff. I am her age and none of my friends or I take pictures like that. Only slutty girls my age take pictures like that. Miley needs to get a reality check and realize that eventhough she is only 15 she is constantly being judged and watched. Well i hope her and her new boyfriend whatever his name is, is happy. [he’s in the new pictures] I’m just happy Nick Jonas has nothing to do with the pictures haha. Yepp you might have guessed i’m a jonas fan. This is just an opinion please don’t criticize me for it :]

Hey, in answer to Kelly’s post on 4/24-I did ask my son last night, he’s 13, and he kind of likes her show and singing-he said, “no big deal-the girls at school are worse, and those are the GOOD girls! But he did say she looks kind if slutty, since it’s on a bed and stuff, even though it’s even more clothes than bathing suits. Just a teenager (and some marketing, I think!)

I think this is ridiculous personally. I graduated from high school last year and on one occasion riding the late bus home my Junior year, which traveled between both highschools and the three middleschools, a 7th grader boarded wearing barely enough of a skirt to cover her tush and a skimpy little shirt. It was about 50 degrees outside, not warm enough for such clothing. I was amazed that our school let girls get away with such things. They say there is a dress code, but it is barely enforced. I see this happening to younger and younger girls because of things like Miley Cyrus, the “Bratz” dolls, even some barbies these days. It’s disgraceful that mothers let their girls leave their homes like that.

First of all im 13 and at my school if you asked every girl if they ever taken pictures like these ones probbably over half of them would say yes, so i think she is just beiong an average teen. Plus these pictures have been on Perez Hiltons web site for like a month… so why is every body making a big deal out of it now. I would like to say that she is still one of my biggest idols and just because she made a mistake does not make her a slut.besides these pictures she is a great romodle. Her songs talk about what she believes in and also about what young girls do. Mylie makes it so easy to undersand her purpose and lets you relate to her in an easy way. like i said before thousands of girls do this and even things worse and just because shes a preteen/teen idol she is getting sigled out , and its not fair

As a parent, I wouldn’t be too happy, however, the teens out there are doing this. It’s soooo different from when we were teens! We didn’t have cell phones, and my space.

WOW! I am not a mom, but I am an aunt and a middle school teacher. If my neice were to have these pictures up on her website I think I would flip out on her! They are too provocative for a girl of her age to have on their myspace page. I also don’t think that all of the young girls that I teach act like this either. I truly hope this is not a marketing trick because if it is, the execs in charge are truly taking her childhood away from her!

Have you seen myspace lately? Kids are posting the exact same pics starting younger than 15. Of course myspace shows they are 21 but I know a few of them and they are 10-12.
Yes, Miley was wrong because she needs to realize she is a role model and everything she does is going to come back and bite her on the butt. If I were her parents I’d take away her camera and internet access. It’s time for her family to have “the talk” with her. I understand the need to feel sexy but um……. hey don’t grow up too fast, there’s plenty of time for that. What about whoever leaked the photos? What kind of person does it take to do that? I think that she is wrong. I have a 15 yr old niece and I would never aprove of it. I think it has to do alot with parents. Famous or not there still should be rules and responsibility. And b/c of these pics, my niece dose not like her anymore. I don’t think these Celbs really care for their fans, b/c if the did they woundn’t do things to turn their fans away.

wow! i’m 15 years old too and all i have to say is that Miley needs to grow up and get some self respect because if you don’t respect yourself how can you expect other poeple to respect you. Not to mention most of her fans are younger and look up to her, does she want them to think that its ok to dress like that? i think she needs to rethink the image shes putting out there with posting these pictures and the Vanity Fair pictures too. also if her dad knew about the pictures and said nothing to her about them then he needs some parenting lessons!!
